Shearing

We shear alpacas and llamas (no sheep) from the first weekend in May through mid-June for farms with 15 or fewer animals. We tend to stick to the eastern half of the state. We come to your farm and shear the alpacas for maximum fiber collection, trim topknots, toenails and teeth if necessary

In order to shear, we need a relatively flat, clean space to set up our ropes/mats, an outlet to plug in the shears, and two anchor points 20 feet apart for the ropes. We can shear outside, weather permitting

Cost: $40/ alpaca; $45/llama- full cut; $40/ llama- barrel cut $35.00 travel/ set-up fee per farm. We have a $125 farm minimum and charge an extra $5 if we provide bags/plastic for fiber collection.

We will also trim toenails between shearings. Fee $20/ animal

2024 will be our last shearing season. Will still be available for between shearing toenail trims.

Field Trips/ Farm Tours

We welcome groups of all ages out to the farm for field trips from mid-June (after our shearing season) through the end of October. Activities include pasture walks where you can go in and feed the alpacas while learning about these animals, walking the llama/alpaca through an obstacle course with photo ops at the end of the course and an age appropriate make and take alpaca themed project featuring alpaca fiber.

Let us know how large your group is (we can accommodate a max of 30), the age range of participants, and preferred dates and times.

Cost: $8 per participant; no charge for chaperones

We happily provide tours to families or small informal groups which includes visiting the pacas and feeding them, visiting the chickens, ducks and bunnies. We do not charge for these informal tours but do appreciate a donation to cover feed costs or a purchase of anything in our store.

Alpaca Consultation/Mentoring

$50/hour
We have been raising alpacas for 13 years and are willing to share our experience with anyone interested in adding alpacas to their lives. We have
given input on fencing, rotational grazing, feed, and assessing fiber quality and processing options as well as training alpacas to walk on leads and tolerate handling. We can train new owners in toenail trimming, halter training and giving shots.

We have bred our alpacas and can provide advice on preparing for births, supplies to have on hand and cria care.

Photo Ops/ Community Vists

Our llama, Trouble, and one of our alpacas, Prince Harry, are available for site visits and photo ops. They have been to wedding receptions, holiday events and other off-farm activities.

Fee- varies based on duration of the event and distance from our farm (generallly $150- $200)
